XLP is a youth work charity working to create positive futures for young people and at the cutting edge of tackling poverty and educational failure in inner London. They deliver holistic, long-term work with young people aged 11 to 25 in schools and communities. You will lead the processes, system and culture changes we require as a growing charity to ensure all activities are safe, carried out to an excellent standard and meet the budgetary and contractual requirements of the organization. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will sit on the XLP Executive Team, alongside a Director of People and Operations, a Deputy Director of Youth Work, and a Director of Fundraising and Comms, to ensure XLP's overall strategic objectives and desired outcomes are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic journey for XLP's youth work delivery, ensuring all youth work supports local communities and allows young people to belong, contribute and thrive.
  • Work closely with the Directors to ensure that all strategic decisions taken reflect XLP's core values, strategic direction and policies.
  • Provide regular management information to Directors and Heads of Departments to optimize, develop and improve the quality of the youth work provision by XLP.
  • Prepare youth work focused reports for Trustee meetings
  • Lead a weekly team meeting with the Heads of Youth Work and the Head of Safeguarding to encourage excellent collaboration and communication across the different areas of youth work delivery.
  • * Support and attend relevant events and facilitate the Youth Work team to do the same.
  • Represent XLP at networking and fundraising events

Requirements

  • Experience of working in senior leadership in an organization at least of similar size and complexity and a track record of seeing strategic vision become a reality.
  • Substantial understanding of youth work (with 11-18year-olds), particularly the difficulties facing and experienced by young people living in an inner-city environment.
  • Core knowledge of relevant national guidance for work with young people.
  • Knowledge of relevant safe practices and processes for delivering youth work programmes.
  • Substantial experience of strategic youth work programme design, development and evaluation, and impact management.
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering projects in partnership with community youth organizations.
  • Experience in building, developing, managing and leading teams effectively, focusing on results delivery.
  • Demonstrable project management skills, with a track record of successful delivery.
  • Experience of managing budgets.
  • Experience in public speaking and delivering training
