The Special Steel Group is headquartered in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and consists of 5 independently operational businesses covering multiple disciplines from forging, heat treatment, materials testing, CNC machining and global distribution of advanced nickel-based alloys & special steels.

We currently have a vacancy for a Sawman & Stock Control Operative to work in our busy Supply chain division based at our Woodbourn Hill facility.

Production duties.

Daily cutting to set schedules and time lines.

Daily operator pre and post machine checks.

Maintain work areas/keeping clean and tidy at all times and carry out metal working fluid tests.

Looking after stock and maintaining traceability at all times.

Warehouse - to co-ordinate and oversee all warehouse logistics.

To check, mark up and book in all incoming materials against customer documentation and resolve any discrepancies.

Prepare orders for despatch.

Maintain shipping documentation, materials and receipts, enter relevant data into the system as needed.

Stock Control duties.

Organise and carry out bar stock inventory counts as per company requirements.

Maintain records and traceability of materials at all times.

It is essential that the candidate has the key skills listed below, together with the right attitude and most importantly, drive and enthusiasm to learn and develop.

Key skills.

Able to operate manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic bandsaws.

Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.

Forklift, side loader and overhead crane licences.

Computer literate in use of computer MRP systems Microsoft word, Xcel and data entry.

Physical stamina, be able to work long hours on ones' feet.

Excellent organisation and efficient time management skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to meet deadlines and work well alone.

Maintain consumables inventory and inform operations manager when items reach replenishment levels.

High standard of house-keeping.

Health and safety compliant.
