We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to join a dynamic team supporting major UK automotive programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity for a quality-focused professional to work at the cutting edge of supplier development and performance management within a fast-paced, technically demanding environment.

The role:

This hybrid role will be primarily based in the Midlands, with work locations split between two sites, extensive visits to supplier facilities across the UK (primarily the Midlands), and some flexibility for remote working. A valid UK driving licence is essential, along with a willingness to travel regularly within the region.

The responsibilities:

As the Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) you'll be responsible for overseeing the quality of supplied parts and materials, ensuring they meet engineering, manufacturing, and customer requirements.

You will play a key role in the development, validation and continuous improvement of supplier performance.
Verify that suppliers fully understand and meet engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
Monitor and assess quality control systems and practices at supplier and subcontractor facilities.
Drive quality assurance activities, including audits, performance monitoring, and improvement planning.
Support root cause analysis, manage corrective action processes, and lead deviation investigations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex quality and supply issues.
Act as a subject matter expert on supplier quality topics, mentoring and guiding junior professionals where required.
The skills you will need to have:

Proven experience in supplier quality engineering, sourcing quality, or commodity management within automotive or advanced manufacturing environments.
Strong knowledge of quality systems, problem-solving techniques, and industry standards (e.g. IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP).
Confident working in supplier-facing roles, with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Strong analytical and organisational abilities, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Valid UK driving licence and flexibility to travel within the UK, mostly across the Midlands.
The education needed:

Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related technical field.
Experience managing complex supplier relationships and continuous improvement programmes.
Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, or injection moulding is an advantage
