Our client is an award-winning commercial vehicle repair bodyshop. Working with all the major UK insurers and numerous blue-chip businesses, the company is growing rapidly and looking to expand their team.
We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic people to join the organisation and drive that growth forward.
The Transport Manager role will suit a well-rounded organiser and excellent communicator.
Responsibilities
* Evaluate and assess best route for delivering and collecting customer vehicles bearing in mind cost implications of logistics and customer service and instruct drivers accordingly.
* Book in collections and deliveries using in house system.
* Manage and report all failed collections.
* Ensure that drivers are informed of lorry inspection date and time, liaise with other departments to ensure the smooth running of this.
* Complete a daily update of drivers/rounds (Including breakdowns/driver problems
* Initial contact in dealing with the collection of information from drivers for the notification of damage.
* Continually review all administrative processes and systems in place and to assist with any proposals for improvements required.
* Prepare the weekly driver working rota to ensure necessary cover to fulfil deliveries and collections.
* Ensure vehicle daily checks are carried out by drivers and that each vehicle is kept clean and tidy by drivers.
* Co-ordinating and updating all delivery schedules
* Liaising closely with customers with regards to delivery ETA's/scheduling etc
Compliance And Regulations
From driver hours-of-service regulations to vehicle maintenance standards and road safety requirements, they must stay updated on legal obligations and ensure that the drivers adhere to them.
Fleet Management
Managing a fleet of vehicles, they will oversee vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and repairs, services, Tax and MOT's ensuring that the fleet operates efficiently, safely, and within budget. Monitoring fuel consumption, tracking vehicle performance, and implementing preventive maintenance strategies are all part of effective fleet management.
Team Management And Development
Leading and management of drivers, dispatchers, and other transportation staff. This includes hiring and training personnel, setting performance targets, managing work schedules, and fostering a positive and cohesive team environment. Effective communication and leadership skills are essential to inspire and motivate the team.
