Our agency is partnering with a vibrant primary school in South Manchester that is seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to run and lead their on-site SEND unit. This role is integral to providing tailored support to students, ensuring they achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Lead the on-site SEND unit, ensuring high standards of support and education for all students.
  • Support Individual Learning Plans: Work closely with the SENDCo to implement and manage Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
  • Classroom Assistance: Provide in-class support, helping to differentiate lessons and provide one-on-one or small group assistance as required.
  • Development of Resources: Create and adapt resources to support the learning and development of students with SEND.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child's education.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor students' progress, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement positive behavior strategies and support students in developing social and emotional skills.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEND in a primary school setting, with experience in a leadership role preferred.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience in creating and implementing IEPs.
  • Passion: A genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of children with SEND.
