Role - Assistant Financial Accountant

Salary - up to £40k

Location Borehamwood

Our client, a reputable firm in the financial sector, is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Accountant to join their finance team. In this crucial role, you will report directly to the Financial Accountant and play a key part in the month-end closing procedures, record-keeping, and preparation of monthly management reports.

As the Assistant Financial Accountant, you will handle audit inquiries and serve as the primary point of contact for cash and banking-related questions. Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining and reconciling the Fixed Asset Register, including depreciation calculations
• Performing daily bank reconciliations across all accounts
• Processing payments, including weekly runs for subcontractors, vendors, expenses, and payroll
• Preparing monthly cost allocation journal entries
• Submitting subcontractor CIS returns
• Reviewing accounts payable and receivable ledgers, collaborating with teams on payment allocations and debt collection
• Posting and reconciling hire purchase transactions
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts, including accruals and prepayments
• Assisting the Financial Accountant during year-end close
• Supporting VAT reconciliation for quarterly returns

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Partially completed professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA) or relevant experience
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Proficiency in accounting software, Excel, and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
• Experience with Evision/Microsoft Dynamics NAV is beneficial but not required
