The School is a special school set in 42 acres of beautiful Surrey countryside in Grafham. Our school offers education for up to 70 students, referred from local authorities across the South of England.

All our students have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) as their primary identified need, though the majority of students have additional special educational needs such as speech, language and communication difficulties; ADHD; opposition defiance and attachment disorders.

Our school is part of a large SEND trust and as such we collaborate across the Trust to share good practice, information and resources. This collaborative working allows us to better support our students and families through well-established multi-agency working practices.

By combining the best elements of a mainstream education with the unique specialist and therapeutic provision that each student needs, we create a learning environment in which every young person can achieve their own goals and pursue a future of their choosing

The person

Preferably experience within SEND, however, applications welcome from people from a mainstream background

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support our educational team in fostering a positive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a commitment to helping students, particularly those with special educational needs, thrive academically and socially. This role involves working closely with teachers to provide tailored support to students, including those with autism, ensuring that all learners receive the guidance they need to succeed.

Responsibilities

* Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and educational activities.

* Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to reinforce learning concepts.

* Support students with special educational needs, including those on the autism spectrum, by implementing individualised education plans (IEPs).

* Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and confidence.

* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.

* Mentor students in developing social skills and emotional regulation.

* Maintain an organised classroom environment, preparing materials and resources as needed.

* Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices
