Job Description:

Stamford College is seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our team. The successful candidate will manage a team of Learning Support Coordinators, ensuring that students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive outstanding support and guidance from pre-entry through to their chosen progression pathways.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management: Line manage and develop a team of Learning Support Coordinators, including recruitment, performance management, CPD, staff inductions, attendance meetings, and appraisals in line with college policies and processes.
SEND Student Support: Collaborate with Curriculum Leads, Heads of Faculty, and teaching staff to monitor and track the performance and progress of key SEND student groups, ensuring maximised achievement and experience.
Specialist Assessment Oversight: Oversee the ALS disclosure and specialist assessment processes, ensuring timely responses to referrals and EHCP consultations. Ensure high-quality assessments and accurate reporting to inform teaching and support delivery.
Operational Coordination: Manage cover arrangements during specialist staff absences, ensuring assessments and EHCP consultations/reviews continue without delay.
Data Management: Ensure consistent, timely, and accurate data capture relating to the allocation and recording of specialist support, enabling effective monitoring of SEND provision.
Funding and Budgeting: Work closely with the Head of SEND and ALS to plan and monitor appropriate support for High Needs students, ensuring funding requests are managed effectively, and departmental income and non-pay budgets are controlled.
Audit and Reporting: Audit and monitor the delivery of services against funding estimates, ensuring accuracy in ILR returns and addressing any delivery gaps to meet targets.
Transition Management: Oversee liaison with feeder schools and referral agencies to ensure smooth transitions for SEND students into college and along their progression pathways.
EHCP Management: Attend Local Authority EHCP panels, ensuring accurate and timely funding agreements for EHCPs. Monitor and review EHCPs to ensure statutory requirements are met, and support costs are appropriate.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for referral agencies, Local Authorities, SENCo Networks, and feeder schools, supporting the transition in and out of SEND students.

Essential Requirements:

Qualifications:

Level 3 Management qualification (or equivalent strong management experience).
Level 5 SEND-related qualification or equivalent.

Experience:

Proven experience in carrying out EHCP annual reviews and working within SEND provisions.
Strong understanding of funding processes and High Needs allocations.

Skills:

Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to maximise student success.
Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail, particularly in data capture, monitoring, and reporting.
