The Technical Services Manager (Mechanical Bias) will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of a £1 billion+ data centre project in East London. Joining at the PCSA stage, the candidate will be responsible for managing all mechanical services aspects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction Phase:

* Lead the mechanical services input during the PCSA stage, including design reviews and value engineering.

* Collaborate with design teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure efficient and effective mechanical design solutions.

* Evaluate mechanical proposals, ensuring they meet project specifications and client requirements.

* Assist in the preparation and review of the project's mechanical documentation.

Project Planning and Coordination:

* Develop and manage the mechanical services program, ensuring alignment with the overall project timeline.

* Coordinate mechanical aspects of the project with the construction team, ensuring seamless integration.

* Identify and mitigate risks related to mechanical services, implementing contingency plans as necessary.

Technical Oversight and Quality Control:

* Ensure all mechanical services comply with regulatory standards and best practices.

* Oversee the commissioning of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, ensuring they meet design specifications.

* Implement robust quality control measures and conduct regular audits.

Stakeholder Management:

* Act as the primary point of contact for all mechanical services-related matters.

* Liaise with the client, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and resolution of mechanical issues.

* Prepare and present technical reports to stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and solutions.

Budget and Cost Management:

* Work with the commercial team to manage the mechanical services budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions.

* Monitor and control mechanical services expenditures, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.

Key Requirements:

Educational Background:

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.

* Professional qualifications (e.g., CEng, MCIBSE) are highly desirable.

Experience:

* Extensive experience in managing mechanical services on large-scale construction projects, preferably within the data centre sector.

* Proven track record of delivering projects from the pre-construction phase through to completion.

* Experience working with Tier 1 main contractors is highly advantageous.

Skills and Competencies:

* Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and their integration within large construction projects.

* Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.

* Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as BIM, AutoCAD, and project management software.
