Senior Support Worker - Children's Residential Home
Location: Worthing, West Sussex
Salary: £36,000 - £38,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Shifts: 07:30-15:00 or 14:00-22:00, including weekdays, weekends and some sleep-ins

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our team in a nurturing and supportive children's residential home in Worthing.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children and young people aged 8-17 who have experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse. The young people we support may present with complex emotional needs and challenging behaviours, and we are committed to providing them with a stable, therapeutic environment that promotes healing and positive development.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality, child-centred care in line with individual care plans

*

Support children in managing their emotions, behaviours, and relationships

*

Lead and supervise shifts, ensuring effective teamwork and communication

*

Mentor and support junior staff, promoting best practice and consistency

*

Maintain safeguarding standards and promote a safe, structured environment

*

Work collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals and social workers

Requirements:

*

Experience in a residential childcare setting, particularly with children who have experienced trauma or display challenging behaviours

*

NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it

*

Strong leadership and communication skills

*

Ability to remain calm, resilient and compassionate under pressure

*

A commitment to trauma-informed, therapeutic care
