Literacy & Numeracy Mentor - The Role:

Wiltshire College & University Centre is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Literacy & Numeracy Mentor to join our team. This role is perfect for individuals who are committed to supporting learners in achieving their English and Maths qualifications.
Literacy & Numeracy Mentor - Key Responsibilities:
As a Literacy & Numeracy Mentor, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting Students: Working with a diverse group of learners who require extra help to succeed in their English and Maths studies.
- Individual and Group Sessions: Providing tailored interventions for individuals and small groups, making complex concepts accessible through creative and engaging methods.
- Collaborative Efforts: Partnering with Inclusion and Support Managers to review and innovate intervention strategies.
- Evidence Gathering: Assisting in the collection of evidence for exam access arrangements.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborating with colleagues, teachers, and managers to enhance learning outcomes for students with learning difficulties and disabilities, including those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Developing and implementing creative interventions to help students overcome learning barriers.
- Work closely with staff to share effective strategies and ensure reasonable adjustments are made.
Literacy & Numeracy Mentor - You:
To apply, you will hold:
- Level 2 (GCSE A-C) qualification or equivalent in English and Maths.
- A level 3 qualification in a relevant subject or a willingness to work toward one.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students and staff.
- Ability to think creatively and independently to address students' learning challenges.
- A good understanding of supporting students in English and Maths, helping them achieve their full potential.
