Salary: £55000 - £65000/annum hybrid, pension, bonus, holidays

Our client is looking for an individual with relevant tax experience to oversee and maintain their own portfolio of personal tax clients. The job will primarily be compliance focused but there will be scope to develop your advisory skills as you gain greater experience with your client base. You should be comfortable managing your portfolio to ensure that your work is completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.

Responsible to: Partner / Director , you will need to demonstrate the following:

. To be the main point of contact for your personal tax clients throughout the year.

· To plan and organise your own portfolio, allocating work and resources as required for each assignment where possible and appropriate.

· To effectively monitor the progress of all returns to ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner, on budget and in accordance with client expectations.

· To prepare the letters of engagement for new clients.

· To prepare the final billing for director or partner review.

· To examine the explanations of variance from budget.

· To assist with all aspects of personal tax compliance, including preparation of the computation and self-assessment returns.

· To assist with the preparation and submission of 60 day CGT return.

· To assist with managing client relationships with HMRC.

· Preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships.

· To have sound foundation of knowledge but escalating queries to specialists within the wider team.

· To communicate openly with directors and partners regarding future work, work in progress and any other matters relevant to clients or your role.

· Assist the team with the provision of UK Tax advice to clients.

· Scope to assist in a wide range of tax compliance areas including those in relation to Trusts, IHT, P11d's and ATED returns.

There will be some Line Management responsibilities where a team exists and you will be:

Managing a team of junior members of the team if required on more complex returns.

Technical Knowledge

· To maintain a very good understanding of current tax standards and practices by attending CPD courses and undertaking relevant research in order to maintain the highest possible standards.

Key skills and abilities

· Either a qualified ACA or ACCA Accountant with a strong background in tax or CTA/CIOT qualification or ATT qualified.

· Able to work independently and take responsibility for activities but escalate matters when required.

· Has an appetite for progression and development.

· Has strong communication skills with both colleagues and clients.

· Is able to focus on solutions rather than problems.

· Ability to manage multiple projects, working effectively as part of a team to drive projects and deliverables.

· Pays attention to detail, process and procedure.

· Is able to establish priorities and meet deadlines.

· Has strong analytical and information gathering skills.

· Adopts a commercial approach to portfolio management.
