About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Associate Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of data centre construction projects in London. This is a senior-level role with the responsibility of driving financial success, ensuring contractual compliance, and mentoring a team of quantity surveyors.

As an Associate Quantity Surveyor, you will be a key member of the leadership team, taking ownership of project budgets, stakeholder relationships, and strategic decision-making to deliver high-value, technically complex projects in one of the fastest-growing construction sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

Oversee and manage all commercial aspects of multiple data centre projects.
Develop and implement cost management strategies to achieve financial and operational objectives.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing commercial guidance and fostering strong relationships.

Cost and Financial Management:

Lead the preparation, management, and monitoring of project budgets.
Ensure accurate cost forecasting, risk mitigation, and financial reporting.
Manage final accounts, valuations, and ensure timely payments to subcontractors.

Contract and Procurement Oversight:

Negotiate, review, and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Ensure adherence to standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC, JCT), identifying and resolving disputes or claims.
Oversee procurement strategies to secure value for money and project efficiency.

Team Management and Development:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of quantity surveyors, ensuring consistent delivery of high standards.
Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Provide technical and professional guidance to junior staff.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure seamless delivery of projects.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including clients and subcontractors.

Compliance and Risk Management:

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company policies.
Identify and mitigate commercial risks across all projects.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum 8-10 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a proven track record of leading on data centre, MEP, or large-scale technical projects.
MRICS or equivalent professional accreditation (preferred).
Comprehensive understanding of standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC, JCT) and construction law.
Extensive experience in cost management, procurement, and dispute resolution.
Strong proficiency in construction and commercial management tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, MS Excel).
