I am looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing fit-out and refurbishment contractor. My client specialises in delivering high-quality projects, primarily within the commercial sector, while also covering leisure, education, and healthcare. They have built a strong reputation for delivering projects to an exceptional standard, often within fast-paced environments, and are now looking to strengthen their commercial team with an experienced professional who can contribute to their continued success.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial success of multiple projects, working closely with the commercial and project delivery teams. You will be responsible for managing all costs related to fit-out and refurbishment projects, from initial estimates through to final accounts, ensuring budgets are maintained and value is maximised. The role will involve a mixture of office-based work, client meetings, and regular site visits, offering a varied and dynamic working environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Take full commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to completion

* Manage project budgets and ensure cost control throughout the lifecycle of each project

* Prepare and review tender documents, contracts, and procurement strategies

* Conduct cost analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure profitability

* Assess and manage subcontractor packages, payments, and variations

* Identify and mitigate commercial risks while maximising value and efficiency

* Work closely with clients, project teams, and key stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery

* Provide regular financial reporting and ensure compliance with contractual obligations

* Negotiate and resolve any commercial disputes or claims in a proactive and professional manner

* Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to the overall development of the commercial team

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the fit-out and refurbishment sector

* Strong knowledge of commercial construction contracts, including JCT and NEC

* Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously

* Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

* Experience working within fast-track construction environments

* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the UK as required
