We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Desk Analyst to join the Service Delivery team in Informatics and Digital Solutions at Sanger Institute on a 12 month Contract.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for delivering prompt and efficient first-line technical support to staff and external clients. You will focus on resolving IT-related issues swiftly, minimising downtime, and ensuring seamless operations all while supporting the broader goals of the Wellcome Sanger Institute. The Service Desk Analyst serves as the primary point of contact for all IT inquiries, incidents, and service requests.

About You:

You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of customers, both within the Institute and across the wider Wellcome Genome Campus.

You will be able to understand and accurately diagnose issues related to various scientific equipment or software packages.

You will need sound judgment in prioritising incidents and ensuring they are escalated appropriately to maintain smooth IT operations.

Essential Technical Skills:
  • An understanding of the internet and global networks
  • An appreciation of computer hardware, peripherals and networking.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and/or Apple Mac operating systems
  • Must be able to demonstrate an aptitude for working with IT

Competencies and Behaviours:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience of delivering customer focused services
  • Must be able to demonstrate an aptitude for working with IT
  • Problem solving/analytical skills
  • Have the capacity and enthusiasm for learning new skills and technologies
  • Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Other Information:

On Campus 5 days a week 9am - 5pm, no hybrid working
