Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week 

We are currently assisting a leading care provider in their search for a Head Chef to join their culinary team at a well-established care home in Denham, Buckinghamshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing kitchen operations, leading a team of culinary professionals, and preparing high-quality, nutritious meals for residents. The position offers a great opportunity to work in a supportive, friendly environment where your creativity and leadership skills will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision and Coordination: Lead and manage all kitchen activities, ensuring daily tasks are carried out efficiently and to the highest standards.
Menu Development: Plan, design, and update seasonal menus, ensuring that dishes meet dietary requirements and resident preferences.
Team Leadership: Train, motivate, and manage kitchen staff to adhere to safety and sanitation standards while promoting a positive, productive work environment.
Inventory and Ordering: Manage kitchen inventory and order food and supplies, maintaining cost control and reducing waste.
Collaboration: Work with other departments, ensuring effective communication between the kitchen and dining areas, and collaborate on food presentation and preparation.
Kitchen Management: Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment, meeting all food safety regulations and health and safety standards.
Recipe Innovation: Continuously develop new recipes and techniques, ensuring the menu remains fresh and exciting for the residents.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar leadership position within a catering or healthcare setting.
Exceptional creativity and innovation in the kitchen, with a passion for producing high-quality, nutritious meals.
Strong understanding of culinary techniques, food safety regulations, and kitchen equipment.
Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, able to build strong working relationships across teams.
Experience in menu planning and managing food costs, ensuring both quality and profitability.

Day-to-Day Duties

Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring daily operations run smoothly.
Develop new menu items, taking into account residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
Lead by example, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and a positive working atmosphere.
Work closely with the management team to ensure the kitchen is operating efficiently and costs are kept within budget.
Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards are adhered to, in line with industry best practices.
