The Head of MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery and development of language programmes within the institution. This position requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about language education and committed to fostering an engaging learning environment. The Head of MFL will lead a team of educators, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning while promoting the importance of multilingualism in our global society.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive MFL curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
- Educate staff on best practices in language instruction, providing guidance and support to enhance teaching methodologies.
- Present innovative teaching strategies and resources to faculty during training sessions and professional development workshops.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to promote the MFL programme and its benefits.
- Monitor student progress and outcomes, using data to inform instructional decisions and interventions.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate language learning across the curriculum.
- Organise extracurricular activities that promote language use and cultural awareness, such as language clubs or exchange programmes.
- Stay abreast of current trends in language education and incorporate relevant advancements into the programme.

- Strong ability to educate diverse groups of students with varying levels of language proficiency.
- Proficiency in using Adobe Captivate or similar software for creating engaging educational content.
- Excellent presentation skills, capable of delivering impactful training sessions to both staff and students.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively across various audiences.
- A passion for languages and cultural exchange, inspiring students to appreciate the value of learning multiple languages.
- Must have QTS and have experience as a MFL teacher or second in charge.
