Our client, a well-established global leader in the manufacturing and distribution of specialist engineered assemblies, is offering an exciting career opportunity for a Prototype Engineer.

This position is based at their cutting-edge manufacturing site in the Midlands, where innovation and excellence are at the core of their operations.

This role involves manufacturing parts and products in line with R&D engineering designs, sourcing components, and overseeing assembly processes.

The Prototype Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Product Management—to ensure timely delivery of prototypes for verification testing.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Manufacturing:

Utilise electrical and mechanical expertise to manufacture and assemble products.

Interpret design drawings and measure components accurately.

Document manufacturing and assembly outcomes to provide feedback to R&D engineers.

Ensure prototypes are released promptly, notifying responsible engineers of any delays.

Implementation and Collaboration:

Collaborate with engineers, departments, test labs, and suppliers to achieve project goals.

Contribute to the development of internally generated products.

Adjust, rework, and produce manufacturing jigs, either in-house or through outsourcing.

Lead prototype builds in accordance with project plans.

Perform root cause analysis on product quality issues, implement solutions, and provide feedback to prevent future occurrences.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications: Completed apprenticeship or substantial experience as a machinist (turning, milling, drilling, cutting), with fabrication and welding capabilities.
