FRI 7.00 - 12PM

Pay Rate:      £43,000 - £45,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting for a Machine shop Manager for our client in Nottingham. They are recruiting for this role to ensure that Machine Shop operations are managed safely and to maximise efficiency to deliver components in support of meeting agreed delivery dates and achieving agreed monthly shipping targets. This includes managing processes, processes, people and facilities in line with demand and agreed budgets.

What's the job?

Ensuring safety of all Machine Shop operations which includes CNC machining, manual machining, sheet metal, fabrication & saw and metal stores

Maximise Machine Shop operation efficiency through staff motivation, effective planning (multi - manning machines, staff holiday cross over, reduce absence vulnerability) staff training including maximising the potential of apprentices, resolving issues, implementing effective preventative maintenance across all machine shop equipment.

Identifying, justifying & implementing investment in changes to process, layout, equipment & facilities to improve throughout and quality.

Ensure components are available to support planned assembly start dates and quality standards are met through managing workload across the areas such as allocating jobs according to experience/skills required, capabilities and availability.

Providing training and support as appropriate to increase flexibility and avoid single points of failure within the machine shop operation.

Reviewing quality issues and talking appropriate corrective action

Resolving day to day issues as they arise, seeking support where needed to ensure all issues are resolved as quickly and effectively as possible and adapting plans to minimise the impact of unforeseen problems.

Key Deliverables -

Zero reportable safety incidents

Components completed on time: no delays to assembly start dates

Providing real time updates to planning to allow the machine shop schedule and local planning sheets to be kept up to date, confirming components production completion dates to the production manager for input to the shipping meeting

Maintaining local planning tools to ensure clarity at all times on priorities and completion dates

Components RAFd per month

Quality - Zero delays in assembly due to poor quality components, time spent on re work, value of scrap
