Job Title: Building Services Engineer
Salary: Circa £60-65k depending on experience
Location: Bolton or Stevenage
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3-4 days per week on-site or as required to meet business needs
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
The opportunity:
MBDA are looking for a client –side Chartered Design Engineer who has have experience in the design and specification of mechanical services and will act as the design authority on projects, promoting design excellence.
You will prepare outline briefs, performance specifications, attend design reviews, approve technical drawings, review and approve derogations from employers' requirements and carry out value engineering reviews of external consultant's designs.
You will have experience of delivering sustainable solutions that contribute to MBDA's Net Zero road map and lead on decarbonisation strategies.
The candidate shall assume ownership of the suite of MBDA Building Design Guides and shall be responsible for review and updating on a periodic basis; ensuring that sustainable products and construction best practice are incorporated into the MBDA estate at project conception.
You can also use your skills to assist the wider MBDA Estates team carrying out Pre-Acquisition Surveys, TDD (Technical Due Diligence), Condition Surveys, and Dilapidation Surveys.
What we're looking for from you:
- Qualified Design Engineer – Chartered/ MCIBSE status or working towards
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering design within the building services industry
- Ability to write technical reports (RIBA 0-2, feasibility, issue investigation, condition/dilap surveys)
- Experience creating outline briefs, scope of works and performance specifications for planned maintenance and lifecycle works packages
- Experience of working with digital engineering tools, such as CAD/Revit. You will also have experience of delivering projects in a BIM environment
- Experience with new build, refurbishment and fit out projects
