Senior Rail Communications Manager - 4-month Contract

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Communications Manager for an exciting opportunity. Candidates must be based within commutable distance of York and have previous rail industry experience.

Role Details:

• Location: York
• Contract Length: 4 months
• IR35 Status: Inside IR35
• Pay Rate: £600pd umbrella
• Work Requirement: On-site at least 3-4 days per week

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective communications strategies aligned with the corporate communication goals.
• Manage a broad range of stakeholder communications, including media, public affairs, community relations, and internal communications.
• Lead communications efforts that present reputational risks or opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external contacts and provide guidance to senior managers.
• Oversee team management, including appraisals, performance monitoring, and objective setting.
• Ensure consistency in all external communications in line with corporate policies.
• Assist in delivering internal communications programs.
• Implement major incident communications as required.

Essential Requirements:

• Substantial experience in corporate communications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with senior managers and external stakeholders
• Strong influencing skills and ability to address complex, sensitive issues
