Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager - Part Time 3 days per week

Department: HSE Department

Responsible to: Business Development Director.

Hours: Part Time 3 Days per week

The Business: My Client are a well established, family run, Main Contractor in the Refurbishment, Fit Out & Maintenance sectors. The company has a reputation for excellence, providing a very personal and dedicated service to it's clients, which sets them apart in their field. Established for over 30 years, they have built a fantastic business, with Best Practice and Investors In People accrediatations, which showcase their focus on delivering excellence and developing their staff.

Main purpose of job: Due to pending retirement of their current HSE Manager, the company need to recruit a new Lead competent person for HSE, ensuring full compliance with current HSE legislation and approved codes of practice and guidance. This is a Part Time role 3 Days per week.

Responsibilities

* Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of HSE legislation and best practice.

* Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming HSE legislation and ensure that the systems and practices are in place to meet legal compliance.

* Advise the management team on the implications of current and emerging HSE legislation, including evaluating options, making recommendations and generating action plans to ensure compliance.

* Develop, co-ordinate, implement and monitor safe working systems and procedures.

* Work proactively with all staff to establish and maintain systems that promote a culture of safe working practices, leading and managing a culture of health and safety and mitigation of risks.

* Provide HSE advice, training, guidance and support to all levels within the organisation

* Demonstrate enthusiasm and leadership across the area of HSE creating a positive culture driving down accidents and raising awareness.

* Assist in the identification and delivery of employee training needs for the effective management of health, safety and risk.

* Carry out routine inspections and audits to ensure that HSE procedures are being adhered to across all areas, ensuring appropriate feedback and actions are being taken to mitigate against risk.

* Undertake reviews of HSE documents, including method statements, risk & COSHH assessments.

* Set up & chair HSE representative meetings as per statutory requirements.

* Manage accident and incident data and investigate circumstances and causes of accidents / incidents, including taking necessary steps to prevent a recurrence.

* Assist with the administration and internal auditing of management systems, for example BSEN 9001 & 14001.

* Coordinate& liaise with external safety, health & environmental organisations including enforcing authorities as necessary.
