Head of People and Culture

Permanent, full time.

Based in Essex with hybrid working available.

Salary: circa £75,000k

Our client is a customer centric property management organisation who are committed to enhancing the well-being of their community and creating a positive working environment. With their focus on people, culture, and continuous improvement, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of People and Culture to lead their team.

This is a truly exciting opportunity to provide leadership, management and professional expertise to the People and Culture functions with accountability for strategic direction, operational delivery, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Group Managing Director and as a member of the senior leadership team you will work collaboratively across the organisation to achieve business objectives, promote vision and values, and shape a positive culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality advice and guidance to the Senior Management Team on matters of people strategy, policy, and operational decision-making.
  • Lead and guide the People Services team, setting qualitative and quantitative standards for their activities.
  • Play a key role in developing and delivering organisational cultural change initiatives, fostering an environment that encourages innovation.
  • Lead the organisation's response to challenges presented by external factors, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Manage and report on budgetary activities related to People Services.
  • Develop and enforce people policies and practises that comply with employment law and maximise operational performance.
  • Collaborate closely with the Group Managing Director, providing strategic leadership on People Service matters.
  • Build and develop positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including trade unions, Local Authorities, external advisors and employees to drive business improvement and service delivery.
  • Develop and oversee the organisation's internal communications function.
  • Lead the development of the Group's strategy on Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Wellbeing.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven track record in the professional leadership, management, and development of People services and professional functions.
  • Experience of working in a commercial environment including briefing at Board level.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with a track record of delivering business change and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting organisations in achieving their workforce development objectives.
  • Personal credibility and gravitas to provide leadership and advice to professionals and other senior people within the Group and partner organisations including the shareholder.
  • Possess a strategic mindset with a focus on delivery and performance.
  • Demonstrates high levels of professional integrity and role-model behaviour.
  • Qualified to degree level and hold MCIPD or equivalent.
