Interim Head of FM and Capital Projects

Location: South East London
Rate: £660 per day (umbrella)

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional to join a London Local Authority as the Interim Head of Facilities Management (FM) and Capital Projects. This pivotal role will involve leading, managing, and directing the strategy and internal governance for the delivery of FM and capital projects across the Council and its partner services.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Governance: Lead, manage, and direct the strategic oversight and internal governance for the delivery of FM and capital projects, ensuring alignment with the Council's objectives and compliance with regulatory standards.
Facilities Building Management: Oversee FM operations, including contract management, procurement arrangements, and building-related duties. Focus on energy-related works and net carbon zero efficiencies through lifecycle repairs and upgrades.
Corporate Health and Safety: Provide strategic direction for corporate health and safety (CH&S), emergency planning, and business continuity across the Council and its partner services.
Capital Programme Strategy: Develop and implement the Council's capital programme strategy, coordinating with stakeholders to deliver projects related to schools/education, corporate properties, carbon reduction, and energy initiatives.
Policy Implementation: Lead the planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and review of the Council's corporate health and safety strategy and policies.

Experience and Qualifications:

Sector Experience: Significant experience working within local or central government, or another major public sector organisation.
Stakeholder Engagement: Proven experience in negotiating and working directly with senior officers, Council Members, and external partners.
Strategic Development: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies and plans to enhance service delivery, with a focus on property assets.
