The RoleWe are seeking a compassionate and proactive Learning Mentor to join our pastoral team. As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting children who may be facing barriers to learning, helping them to develop confidence, self-esteem, and essential life skills. This role requires excellent communication, patience, and the ability to motivate and inspire young learners. Main Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring sessions to support emotional well-being and social development.
  • Help children build resilience, self-confidence, and positive learning attitudes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve attendance, engagement, and behaviour.
  • Work closely with teacher and SENDCO to ensure a joined-up approach to supporting students.
  • Support children in managing emotions and resolving conflicts through restorative approaches.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, inclusion, and empathy within the school community.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to relevant staff.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working with children.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with children.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Ability to work flexibly and use initiative.

Desirable Criteria

  • Relevant qualifications in education, child development, and/or mental health.
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
