Title: Payroll Team LeaderLocation: Wokingham - HybridSalary: £45-52,000 + BonusContract: Permanent  We are recruiting for an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join a leading payroll services firm based in Wokingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the payroll operations for clients, working closely with senior management to ensure the smooth running of the payroll process.  This role requires you to be in the office 4 days a week.  Key Responsibilities
  • Take charge of guiding, motivating, and leading a dynamic payroll team.
  • Demonstrate experience as a proficient and comprehensive Payroll Team Leader.
  • Inspire and mentor the payroll team to achieve their best performance.
  • Facilitate the growth and skill enhancement of Payroll Administrators, identifying training needs to expand their payroll expertise
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Manager to assist in the performance management of Payroll Administrators.
  • Evaluate and approve the tasks handled by payroll team members before final sign-off.
  • Serve as the primary contact point for our clients, ensuring service levels are met while maintaining strong client relationships and accurate payroll functions.
  • Engage closely with clients and internal stakeholders to manage expectations effectively.
  • Simplify and convey complex information to non-payroll experts clearly.
  • Exhibit a thorough working knowledge of managing a high-volume payroll.
  • Display proactive, organized, and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Monitor, review, and implement new processes to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Possess specialist knowledge and experience in all aspects of payroll function management.
  Technical Skills Required:
  • Holding a CIPP or equivalent qualification is preferred but not essential.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within an Accountancy firm
  • Excellent knowledge of payroll legislation and best practice
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team
  • Experience of working with payroll systems
