Disability Support worker - School Based

Support, Educate, and Nurture Make a Difference in the Classroom!

At Sense Education, were looking for a passionate and dedicated Disability Support worker who are ready to transfer their valuable skills into the classroom. We currently have both full-time and part-time (flexible days) positions available to start ASAP at a school in the Leeds area. This is an exciting opportunity to support young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and help them achieve their educational, social, and emotional goals.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in helping students with SEND reach their full potential. Your work will involve:

  • Supporting pupils in class to meet their educational, social, and emotional goals
  • Assisting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and some who may present with challenging behaviour
  • Providing tailored support in a highly supportive environment to ensure students can thrive
  • Collaborating with a dedicated team to ensure every childs needs are met


Experience with challenging behaviour is advantageous, but above all, were looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Comes from a support background, with experience working with young people or adults with disabilities
  • Is deeply passionate about supporting young people to succeed
  • Demonstrates kindness, empathy, and a caring approach
  • May have a support qualification or a degree, but most importantly, has a genuine desire to help others
  • Is eager to learn, with full training and support provided

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
