We are looking for an experienced Cook/Chef to join our friendly Teams at our Nursing Homes. If you are passionate about cooking, enjoy working with older people and would like to work in an established catering team, then we have the perfect job for you! The positions we currently have available range from full time and part time working shift pattern and the successful applicant will earn up to £16 per hour dependant on experience.

The Role:

As a Cook / Chef you will:
• Prepare, cook and serve well-balanced nutritious meals to a consistently high standard, meeting our resident's preferences and individual dietary needs. This will include breakfast, lunch and a light meal for supper.
• Work as part of an established catering team and ensure all meals are provided in sufficient quantities and always presented in an attractive manner.
• Support the Head Chef to plan and deliver a varied 4 weekly menu plan which reflects seasonal changes and meets resident's choice.
• Ensure that a consistently high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchen and always serving areas.
• Play an active role in supporting our residents and visitor's social occasions and have a creative approach to providing suitable meals and refreshments for themed events.
• Have excellent communication skills and ensure all residents, relatives, visitor's and staff are always addressed in a professional manner.
• Ensure that the caring culture expected at our Nursing Homes is consistently upheld and maintained.

Skills and Experience:
• RQF/NVQ Level 2 Food Preparation/Catering or City & Guilds equivalent
• RQF/NVQ Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
• Ability to understand the needs of older people and cater for specific dietary needs
• Good organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work under your own initiative and as part of a team
• A clear understanding and working knowledge of the Food Safety Act, COSSH regulations and HACCP
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• A caring and compassionate disposition
• Reliable and flexible approach towards work, with the ability to work weekends
