JMC Aviation are working with an MRO company based in Birmingham, looking to recruit a new SMS Manager to join their team.

This client is a leading MRO dealing with line and base maintenance as well as interior modifications, fuel systems repair and maintenance for both commercial and military aircraft. The company has been operating for close to 30 years, providing outstanding customer service and encouraging a warm, positive environment to aid employee progression.

This is a Permanent Position based in Birmingham, UK.

The Role

The primary purpose of this role is to develop operational risks and safety risk management processes by documenting the SMS.

Other Duties Involve

  • Identifying areas of compliance risk and business vulnerability, developing and implementing corrective action plans for resolution of identified or potential threats
  • Coordinating site reporting and investigating processes which would lead to the close out of improvement actions in accordance with the SMS
  • Developing and maintaining company policies in relation to compliance assurance
  • Reporting daily performance to the Head of Safety & Compliance
  • Proactively identifying risks
  • Assigning and reviewing corrective actions
  • Investigating incidents to establish root cause
  • Creating training material and delivering training sessions
  • Assessing current state of readiness

In order to be successful in this role the SMS Manager will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes

  • Understanding of the CAA/EASA Part 145 and SMS regulations
  • Understanding of aviation safety principles and risk management practices
  • Deep understanding of behaviours-based safety (human factors)
  • Aptitude for developing safety training and procedures for SMS
  • Lead Investigator trained
  • Understanding of the FAIR 3 process
  • Right to live and work in the UK
