Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Customer Service Officer for a Local Authority Client based in Somerset.

In this role, you will be the first point of contact for residents, providing high-quality advice and support through face-to-face, telephony, and online digital channels.

About the role:

You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:

  • Act as the first point of contact for customer enquiries via face-to-face, phone, and online channels.
  • Provide guidance on council services and assist customers with self-service online solutions.
  • Handle high-volume and sensitive enquiries with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records, stay updated on council services, and collaborate with other departments.

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Proven experience delivering excellent customer service across face-to-face, phone, and online channels.
  • Skilled in managing high-volume enquiries and handling sensitive situations with empathy.
  • Proficient in using and learning new computer systems and technologies.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills to guide customers to appropriate solutions.

What's on offer:

Salary: £16+ph

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
