Position Overview

The company are seeking a skilled and motivated Fire and Security Engineer to join their team, working on various sites in and around Cambridge. The ideal candidate will have experience in installing, maintaining, and servicing fire alarms, security systems, and other related equipment. This role requires someone who is technically proficient, customer-focused, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

* Installation and Maintenance: Install, service, and maintain fire alarm systems, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control systems, and other security equipment to the highest standards.

* Fault Finding and Repairs: Diagnose and repair faults on all systems and ensure all work is completed to industry standards and regulatory requirements.

* System Upgrades and Modifications: Carry out system upgrades and modifications in line with customer needs and company guidelines.

* Compliance and Testing: Perform regular testing of fire and security systems to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

* Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, including explaining systems and procedures, providing training to end-users, and offering technical support.

* Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including system installations, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.

* Safety and Regulations: Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

* On-Call Duties: Participate in a rotational on-call schedule to provide emergency support and response (this will be optional and .

Qualifications and Skills

* Proven experience as a Fire and Security Engineer or in a similar role.

* Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarms.

* Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., BS 5839, BS 6266, BS 7671, and NSI/SSAIB).

* Ability to interpret technical diagrams and manuals.

* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical clients.

* Full UK driving license.

* Relevant certifications or qualifications in electrical engineering, fire alarm systems, or security systems (e.g., FIA, BAFE, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
