Reed Secure is a specialist provider of permanent, contract, temporary and outsourced recruitment solutions for security cleared professionals.

We require a Civilian Investigator to cover an existing workload within British Transport Police, with the team based in Camden / London Bridge (Remote working).

This is an interim position for an initial 12 months with the potential to be extended, dependent on workload.

Job Purpose:

  • Conduct investigations and to carry out internal enquiries into matters affecting the discipline of the Force, in order to maintain the integrity of British Transport Police by ensuring expectations are met and public confidence is maintained.
  • Project Overview: The project involves reviewing historical cases of potential misconduct by British Transport Police officers, focusing on around 350 cases.

Skills and experience needed to be successful in this role:

  • Niche experience is highly sort after.
  • Proven ability in successfully dealing with conflict and challenging situations. 
  • Ability to remain calm whilst working under pressure.
  • Ability to remain impartial in all emotionally challenging situations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a challenging environment and independently using own initiative.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and work professionally in a sensitive environment.
  • High level of personal integrity and discretion. 
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal communication skills including presentations.
  • Excellent written skills including correspondence and report writing.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to deal with dissatisfied customers effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to liaise and interact at all levels.
  • Existing knowledge of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.
  • IT literate and experienced in a range of computer systems – Specifically and essentially, competent in the use of NICHE.
  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act 1998 in order to apply the key principles.
