Are you an experienced Maintenance Technician with hands-on problem-solving skills? Do you enjoy keeping facilities safe, secure, and well-maintained for community use? This Parish Council is looking for a reliable technician to oversee asset maintenance across multiple sites, ensuring their operational safety and efficiency.

About the Role

You’ll play a key role in maintaining parish-managed assets, including community centres, pavilions, and public spaces. Your tasks will range from routine inspections and health & safety audits to general repairs in areas such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and decorating. As part of the Environment & Facilities team, you’ll also collaborate with Rangers and Caretakers to ensure that facilities remain in top condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct periodic inspections to comply with health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks on assets, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and decorating.
  • Undertake audits to identify issues and create work plans based on priority, risk, and budget.
  • Assess and document maintenance needs, escalate issues when necessary, and track resolutions.
  • Support caretakers by providing emergency or holiday cover when required, including opening/closing facilities.
  • Carry out deep cleans and inspections, ensuring facilities meet user expectations.
  • Manage outdoor assets and assist with landscaping duties around parish properties.
  • Work closely with the caretakers, Rangers, and office team, ensuring smooth coordination of maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor, log, and report any maintenance issues and oversee procurement of materials/services.
  • Ensure health & safety compliance and maintain up-to-date training.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in facility management, maintenance, and hands-on repair work.
  • Knowledge of basic DIY, landscaping techniques, health and safety guidelines, and manual handling.
  • Skills in troubleshooting, practical problem-solving, and effective communication with the public.
  • Personal attributes such as positivity, flexibility, the ability to work independently, and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • A valid UK driver’s licence is essential.
  • Experience working within local authorities or not-for-profit organisations, a First Aid certificate, or an NVQ Level 3/4 qualification in a relevant field would be advantageous
