Are you an experienced or qualified BSL (British Sign Language) Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting deaf pupils in their education and personal development? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join a specialist school in Birmingham, which provides a nurturing and inclusive environment tailored to the needs of deaf students.

About the Role:

As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting deaf pupils to access the curriculum and thrive both academically and socially. Your responsibilities will include:

Using British Sign Language to facilitate communication between pupils, staff, and peers.
Supporting students in small group and 1:1 settings, adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
Promoting independence and self-confidence in deaf learners.
Assisting in the planning and delivery of engaging lessons alongside class teachers.
Encouraging a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

What We're Looking For:

A recognised qualification in British Sign Language (minimum Level 2, Level 3+ preferred).
Previous experience working with deaf children or young people in an educational or similar setting.
A compassionate and patient approach, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of deaf pupils.
Knowledge of the unique challenges faced by deaf learners and the ability to address them effectively
