Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum

Due to an increase in demand, our prestigious client requires an experienced Materials Planner to join their team for approx. 6-9 months on a fixed term contract basis. You will be working as part of a team reporting into the Materials Manager. Your role is to ensure that the supply of materials meet the production schedule and minimum stock levels to ensure operational and production continuity.

Our client is a UK owned and managed business with 80 years of product history. They produce goods principally for the UK Retail markets. This multimillion-pound business continues to grow and has built up an enviable reputation for delivering a high-quality service to a broad spectrum of customers.

As a Materials Planner, your main duties will be:

  • Schedule the supply of materials/components to meet production requirements and minimum safety stock levels
  • Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions
  • Day-to-day order management and management of deliveries
  • Manage risks to minimise impact on production schedule
  • Take follow up actions in relation to material shortages that affect production and escalate to management
  • Implement all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement
  • Transferring of stocks/materials from external warehouses, raising and booking of purchase orders, using the IT systems
  • Support inventory checks to validate inventory accuracy
  • Minimise obsolete stock and ensure business is left with minimum liability
  • Create regular statistical reports and analysis and update others in the organisation

Experience required for the Materials Planner:

  • Previous material planning experience is required from within a manufacturing background
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally
  • Results orientated and organised with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines
  • Strong analytical, planning and problem solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail skills
  • You must be able to commit to this 6-9 months fixed term contract

This role is offered as a full-time, fixed term contract for approx. 6-9 months due to an increase in demand.

Hours of work are 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday), and the role is office based due to the nature of the requirement within a manufacturing environment.
