District Operations Manager - Concrete

The primary focus of this role is to attain our agreed safety, cost, profit, quality, and service objectives by effectively managing the district operations team. This entails a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing opportunities for improving operational performance. Leadership should be characterized by a style that propels the business towards its objectives while fostering a highly motivated and high-performing team. Clear and effective communication is crucial for conveying business expectations, including performance requirements and results to the team. Furthermore, team development is a priority, with a commitment to both individual and collective growth. This is achieved through the creation of personal action plans and their subsequent implementation via delegation, coaching, mentoring, and learning programs. In addition to internal operations, establishing, nurturing, and strengthening key stakeholder relationships are essential.   • *Ensure the highest practicable standards of health, safety and environment for our employees and drivers on customer sites and ensure compliance with these standards.
  • *Develop local operations plan to achieve required safety, profit, quality, and service objectives *Provide monthly operational cost and production forecast reflecting commercial needs
  • *Contribute to the area strategic plan and annual budget
  • *Review, analyse and identify achievements, shortfalls, and areas for improvement against plan on a regular basis and implement corrective actions
  • *Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies, and general duty of care.
  • Provide leadership in a style that both drives the business to achieve its objectives and creates the conditions in which the team are well motivated and high performing.
  • *Communicate in a clear and effective manner, business expectations, including performance requirements and results
  • *Develop the team, both individually and collectively, by agreeing Personal Action Plans and addressing these through delegation, coaching, mentoring and learning programmes.
  • *Be open and honest with colleagues, team members and the Regional Team to ensure issues are addressed which impact on any aspects of the business.
  • *With close collaboration with operational management and staff, ensure that all concrete is produced at the correct time to fulfill customers' requirements and to required quality standards. Similarly, work closely with the technical department to find solutions to customers' specifications in a cost-effective manner.
  • *Ensure daily and weekly customer orders are fully understood and planned for accordingly, including liaison with site contacts, CSC and plants as required.
  • *Proactively work to resolve customer complaints and minimize query levels. This should include embracing the 'Right First Time' philosophy and ensuring the integrity of orders with regards to price, PO, mix etc.
  • *Assist with and have major influence over the management of all aspects of the delivery of the VDWT redevelopment project, including the management of relationships with key stakeholders and providing a key focal point for escalation and resolution of issues, necessitating excellent problem-solving ability in the successful candidate.


The role holder is expected:

  • *To comply with all aspects of the Heidelberg Materials Compliance Policy.
  • *To ensure that all the business/operations are performed in accordance with instructions and procedures and in such a way to prevent any fraudulent activities taking place.
  • *To comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and to observe the requirements of the Company Safety Policy and other relevant legislation.
