Due to business growth, we are looking to recruit for a Controls Software Engineer for a leading manufacturing engineering company based in Newcastle.
The main purpose of the role is to provide Software engineering design and support functions to the business under instruction of more senior members of the team.
The ideal candidate will be degree qualified to Bachelors or Masters degree in Software Engineering or a related field with exposure to PLC controls software Design. Candiates will have experience with development of Rockwell/ Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs and also development of Scada Systems using Wonderware or WinCC.
Hours - Monday - Thurs (Apply online only) / Friday 0830 - 12
Hybrid working available - 3 days in the office as a minimum
Key Responsibilities:
* In this role you will be assisting in the development, design and management of the control systems software with full involvement through the product life cycle from initial sales/requirements to after services support.
* The software team is very much a supplier to the rest of the business to help the company to push boundaries in technology and meet customer requirements and new ways of working.
* You will be responsible for developing, testing and implementation of new software to fulfil the functional specification. Alongside this you will be producing design documentation including functional design, software, and test documentations.
* You may be required to support customers offshore and abroad as part of the system development.
Technical Competency - desirables
• Understanding hydraulic schematics
• Understanding electrical schematics
• Understanding of electrical standards
• PLC programming experience ( Rockwell/ Siemens)
• SCADA prgamming experience ( Wonderware/ WinCC)
Qualifications & Skills:
* Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science/Electronic Engineering or related/equivalent subject.
* Skilled in PLC Programming - Rockwell/Siemens
* Experineced in SCADA Control design - Wonderware/ WinCC
* Clear technical writing and good record keeping.
