We are recruiting a
Staff Scientist for Dr Raheleh Rahbari in CASM Programme at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
About the Role:You will play a crucial role in advancing and delivering a collaborative research projects focused on the comparative analyses of somatic mutational patterns in primates across lifespans. This laboratory and computational-based position will involve the generation and analysis of high-quality data, including histological processing, laser capture microdissection (LCM), NanoSeq whole-genome and targeted sequencing, and long-read sequencing. The role requires a high level of technical expertise, scientific leadership, and the ability to manage and mentor a multidisciplinary research team.
About You:You will collaborate closely with external partners and institutions, contribute to data analysis and interpretation, and play a key role in manuscript preparation and publication to disseminate the research findings of the scientific outcomes comprehensively.
Essential Technical Skills and Experience:- PhD in Biological Sciences or equivalent relevant laboratory/research experience
- Significant experience in scientific research roles
- High proficiency in genetics and molecular biology techniques, including long-read sequencing
- Expertise in data analysis and integration across multiple biological datasets
- Experience in writing scientific publications

About Us:The Cancer, Ageing and Somatic Mutation Programme pioneers data aggregation and informatics innovation, develops high-throughput cellular models of cancer for genome-wide functional screens and drug testing, and explores basic scientific questions about the role somatic mutation plays in clonal evolution, ageing and development. This role is based in Raheleh Rahbari's group whose research focuses on mutations acquired during ageing and how they can predispose to disease across generations.
