Field Service Engineer

The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing and support of a range of equipment for a successful and large global business. Reporting to a manager who has grown through the ranks of the business, you will be receiving lots of support and training to become a better engineer. This role encompasses installation and commissioning, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, field rectification, technical support, and customer training. The role also provides additional qualifications and on-going training.

Salary: £32,000 - £37,500

Hours: 35 hours per week. Monday-Friday

Location: Head Office in Northampton, Midlands Travel.

Benefits: £6,600 Car Allowance, Fuel Expenses, Equipment Provided.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and breakdown repairs of equipment at customer sites and occasionally in the service workshop.
Support installation, commissioning activities, field troubleshooting, and upgrade campaigns.
Train customers on the proper operation and routine maintenance of equipment.
Provide detailed Service Technical Reports on specific product or customer issues and develop field troubleshooting guides.
Offer telephone technical support to customers when practical.
Train other service personnel through formal written and verbal presentations and on-the-job training at customer sites.
Attend project meetings and report back to the department.
Report warranty problems back to the manufacturing company as needed.
Undertake other tasks as directed to support the service organisation.
Ensure personal safety and the safety of colleagues and customers.
Conduct business with customers professionally and courteously.
Work with Service Coordinators/Team Leaders to ensure efficient customer site coverage and maintain a reputation for fast response.
Stay updated on relevant product developments and maintain product information.
Ensure all work and parts are properly recorded and Service Reports are completed timely.
Ensure test equipment and tools are calibrated/serviced according to guidelines.
Proactively promote and follow HSE practices, manage risks, and report incidents, near misses, and hazards.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
Be flexible to undertake any other tasks as required by departmental and organisational needs.

Person Specification:

Essential:

Knowledge and experience of mechatronic systems and techniques for motors.
Ability to use diagnostic software tools for fault finding.
Experience in installing and fault finding on high and low voltage electrical systems.
Capability to work in confined spaces.
Ability to manage loading/unloading weights (typically 14kg).
Proficient in using computers, including MS Office.
Good knowledge of the English language, both oral and written.
Valid driving licence.Desirable:

Recognised Apprenticeship or Scholarship in Science/Engineering.
BSc in a Science/Engineering or related subject.

Ability to work unsupervised and within a team environment.
High level of communication skills, both verbal and written.
Have an interest in how things work.
Methodical and organised.
Confident under pressure.
Conscientious and a quick learner.
Willingness to travel within the UK, Ireland, and occasionally overseas.
