Job Title: Senior Strategy Engineer (F1)

Position Overview:
The Senior Strategy engineer plays a pivotal role in providing strategic support for trackside events, including all FIA Formula 1 Championship races and select test events. This position oversees the strategy group within the race engineering department, ensuring optimal team performance through leadership, coaching, and day-to-day management. The role requires a deep understanding of race strategy, data analysis, and the ability to work under high-pressure conditions.
Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Management:
Lead and manage the strategy group within the race engineering department, guiding team members to maximize performance.
Oversee daily activities, providing direction and coaching to ensure the team operates at the highest standard.

Event Support:
Provide strategic support at all FIA Formula 1 Championship races and test events, either trackside or from the Factory Race Support Room.
Conduct pre-event simulations, generate reports, and provide in-event support and post-race analysis.
Collaborate with Race Engineers and the Head of Performance Engineering to define pre-event tyre usage plans and fuel strategies.

Competitor & Pitstop Analysis:
Perform competitor analysis during race weekends and between events, supporting other departments as needed.
Lead the Pit Stop Working Group, prioritizing projects and providing detailed feedback to the pit crew.
Manage and troubleshoot the Race Strategy systems, ensuring their proper setup and operation.

Tool Development & Innovation:
Enhance existing tools and develop new methodologies for strategy operations.
Research and implement new analysis techniques, software tools, and methodologies for future developments.

Strategic Planning & Budget Management:
Contribute to the overall strategy and organizational direction of the team, identifying future needs and recommending solutions.
Manage the strategy group's budget, coordinating with the Head of Performance Engineering on costs.

Regulation Compliance & Health and Safety:
Assist the Team Manager with Sporting Regulation matters.
Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines across all venues, promoting a safe work environment.
Education & Experience Requirements:

Academic Qualifications:
Master's or PhD in a STEM discipline.

Professional Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in Formula 1 motorsport, with significant experience in race strategy.
Strong background in data analysis, numerical, and statistical methodologies.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships.
Excellent planning, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.
Ability to oversee minute details while understanding the broader strategic objectives in a high-pressure environment.
Positive attitude with a team-oriented approach, and a willingness to assist others.
Proficiency in Python, VBA, MATLAB, and C# programming.
Experience with databases, particularly in creation and management, and data analysis using ATLAS.
In-depth understanding of vehicle and tyre performance, as well as technical aspects of Formula 1 race strategy.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a methodical approach.
Extensive domestic and international travel required, with flexibility to work long hours, including weekends.
Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting, and manual dexterity.
Work environment may involve exposure to machinery, race cars, rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids.
Compliance with the company's Health and Safety Policy and all relevant statutory regulations is mandatory.
