SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to join a vibrant primary school in Barking & Dagenham. As a crucial member of the educational team, you will provide tailored support to children with SEMH needs, ensuring that they have the best possible learning experience. This is a part-time role offering a competitive daily rate of £85-£100, depending on experience.

In this role, you will assist class teachers in providing individualized support to students, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will work closely with the school's SENCO, external agencies, and the wider staff team to implement strategies that support the emotional and academic development of children who require additional assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support children with SEMH needs on a one-to-one or small group basis, helping them to manage emotions and behaviours.

• Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored interventions and learning strategies for children with SEMH

.• Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).

• Provide pastoral support to children, promoting positive mental health and well-being.

• Ensure a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel supported and valued.

• Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to the SENCO and class teacher.
Application Requirements:

• Experience working with children with SEMH needs in an educational or care setting.

• A relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable

.• A genuine passion for supporting children with SEN and a commitment to helping them succeed

.• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Patience, empathy, and a calm, positive approach to managing challenging behaviours.
