An e-Module Assembly Leading Hand is required for a high-tech manufacturing company based in Southam, Warwickshire. My client has opened a state-of-the-art facility developing manufacturing solutions for clients' challenging components and assemblies. Due to a recent JV my client is developing the next generation of assemblies that will feature integrated electric drive and generation solutions which are being developed for scalable in-house manufacture.

As the e-Module Assembly Leading Hand your purpose will be to support the set-up of all manufacturing processes including trouble-shooting and preventative maintenance. You will coach and monitor assembly operatives to the required standard to enable them to work alone, ensuring that e-Module assembly complies with relevant released processes and specifications.

Key roles and responsibilities for this e-Module Assembly Leading Hand role will be:

* Participate in development of e-Motor production line layout through project work and analysis, to support achievement of throughput and right-first-time quality requirements.

* Become familiar with e-Motor fundamentals and specifics regarding new production variants, some of this will be achieved though working closely with my clients JV technical partner including prototype build and test.

* Contribute to process definition, Process FMEA workshops and evaluate or execute resulting outcomes.

* From process cycle times and demand patterns, help establish manning requirements and technician competence levels to support recruitment and on-boarding of a capable production team.

* Ensure that new starters are trained and assessed by operation and maintain training records and competence assessments.

* Participate in work-station risk assessments in order that the new and future e-Motor production facilities provide a safe and healthful environment, and all necessary measure, PPE and emergency measures are in place.

* Fully support manufacturing engineering during the production equipment procurement phase of this project. This would include factory acceptance testing and trials, installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance testing.

* Maintain and present Key Performance Indicators relevant to this role on a periodic basis, typically these will include Customer Schedule Adherence, Right First Time Quality, Housekeeping, Time, and Attendance.

Key skills and experience required for this e-Module Assembly Leading Hand role will ideally include:

* Higher Education Qualification (for example BTEC or HNC) in an Engineering Discipline - preferably specialising in manufacturing or aspects of electric motor technologies.

* At least three years' experience working in electro-mechanical assemblies.

* Knowledge and experience of (some of these) core manufacturing processes would be beneficial, including Coil Winding, Induction Heating, Copper to Copper joining, Bonded Assemblies, Pressed Assemblies, Resin Encapsulation, In-line electrical testing.

* Proven track record in supervising a small team of skilled or semi-skilled technicians.

* Good inter-personal skills to liaise with engineers and management and to support the production team.

* Experience of participating in and applying pFMEA, Control Plan, work-station risk analysis.

* Full UK Driving License.

This is a permanent position with a basic salary up to £40,000pa dependent on experience, with excellent opportunities for career progression within this growing organisation as it matures over the coming years.
