Tempest Resourcing is currently seeking a reliable and skilled School Caretaker to join a respected school in South London. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced caretaker or facilities professional to take on a vital role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Role: School Caretaker

Location: South London

Contract: Full-Time, Temporary/Permanent (depending on role)

Key Responsibilities:

- Site Maintenance: Ensure that the school premises, buildings, and grounds are kept in excellent condition through regular maintenance, cleaning, and repair work.

- Health & Safety: Conduct daily checks to ensure that health and safety regulations are being met and that the school is compliant with fire, security, and safety procedures.

- Security: Lock and unlock the school buildings, monitor security systems, and respond to any emergencies, ensuring the site is secure at all times.

- Repairs: Carry out minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks, or coordinate with external contractors for larger maintenance projects.

- Cleaning & Waste Management: Oversee the cleaning of communal areas, classrooms, and outdoor spaces, and manage the disposal of waste in line with environmental standards.

- Groundskeeping: Maintain the school grounds, including garden areas, playgrounds, and sports fields, ensuring they are tidy and safe for use.

- Stock & Supplies: Monitor and manage supplies of cleaning materials, tools, and equipment, placing orders when necessary.

Ideal Candidate:

- Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities management, or maintenance role.

- Good knowledge of basic repair and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.

- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, with the ability to ensure compliance at all times.

- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and take initiative in problem-solving.

- Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks, including lifting and carrying.

- Friendly and approachable, with good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

- A flexible and adaptable approach to work, willing to take on varied tasks as needed.
