Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum

Elevation Accountancy and Finance are delighted to be working with a fantastic business in the Sheffield area as they look to recruit a Finance Accounting Lead to join their team on a full time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of draft statutory accounts, fixed assets accounting and treasury management, assistance with audit, grants, voluntary funds, statistical returns, compliance with financial regulations and standing orders.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To support with developing improved financial management, control and reporting across the organisation
  • To support with the accurate and timely completion of the Annual Statement of Accounts and any external returns which will include ensuring the presentation and documentation satisfies the needs of external auditors in accordance with relevant statutes, accounting codes of practice and good professional practice
  • To support in maintaining an internal financial control, policy and procedural framework that meets relevant professional and best practice standards for promoting effective financial management, control and reporting
  • To work alongside the Finance Manager to ensure systems are in place and maintained
  • To manage and maintain the Fixed Asset Register
  • To work alongside the Finance Manager on ensuring Financial Services compliance with Accounting Codes of Practice is achieved and maintained
  • To support the Finance Manager and lead on year-end procedures and processes, in conjunction with the Financial Services Manager, to produce the annual Statement of Accounts and to provide information necessary for the completion of the annual external audit
  • Be responsible for the accurate and appropriate security and processing of data, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures (i.e. data protection)
  • Proactively identify and support continuous improvements to ways of working
  • Carry out other duties from time to time as required, appropriate to the grading of this post

Person Specification:

  • ACCA / CIMA finalist or qualified by experience 
  • An understanding of financial management and legislative and regulatory frameworks
  • Communication skills both written and verbal to include presentation of information
  • Strong professional/technical, analytical and problems solving ability
  • Working knowledge of the application of accounting Codes of Practice
  • Knowledge of procedures required to maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
