A well-established secondary school in London is seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to students with physical disabilities, mobility challenges, and communication needs. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for helping students develop independence through assistive technology, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), and mobility support strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide individualized support to students with mobility needs, assisting them with physiotherapy exercises, adaptive equipment, and personal care to enhance independence.

* Utilize Assistive Technology & AAC tools to support students with speech and language difficulties, ensuring they can communicate effectively in the classroom.

* Collaborate with teachers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to create and implement specialized support plans.

* Support students with core subjects (Reading, Writing, Maths) using adapted learning techniques to meet their individual needs.

* Assist students in safely navigating the school environment, including transitions between classrooms, extracurricular activities, and PE lessons.

* Facilitate communication and learning using Makaton & British Sign Language (BSL) where necessary, ensuring all students can fully engage.

Candidate Requirements:

* A Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools (STLS) or equivalent qualification.

* A Specialist SEN Diploma or Certificate (desirable).

* Training in Makaton & British Sign Language (BSL) (preferred).

* Experience working with students with physical disabilities and mobility needs, supporting them with physiotherapy, motor skill development, and mobility aids.

* Familiarity with Assistive Technology & AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) to empower non-verbal or speech-impaired students.

* A strong commitment to inclusive education, with the ability to support students' social, emotional, and academic development.

* Excellent teamwork and communication skills, working collaboratively with staff, students, and external professionals.
