The Role
We are looking for a Data Scientist to work within our newly created “Insights and Innovation” team.
The successful candidate will use advanced Data Analytics and machine learning techniques to solve critical problems in the field of service operations management.
The successful candidate would also look to integrate prototypes and developed solutions into our wider product offering.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work closely with your business to identify issues and use data to propose solutions to support customer decision making
- Use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to defined problems Create prototypes of tools that can be integrated into our existing product set.
- Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results
- Create clear reports that tell compelling stories that summarise findings Horizon scan to stay up to date with the latest technology, techniques and methods
- Conduct research from which you’ll develop prototypes and proof of concepts Look for opportunities to use insights/datasets/code/models within our wider product set
- Stay curious and enthusiastic about using algorithms to solve problems and enthuse others to see the benefit of your work.
Knowledge and Experience (essential)
- Minimum of a Masters degree in Computer Science / Information Management/Data Analytics or relevant disciplines
- Experience of Data analytics (Statistical analysis, Visualisation, Machine Learning) and Project Management
- Track record with state-of-the-art data analytics language like R and Python, with a strong desire to work on other platforms (like MS Azure Analytics, PowerBI, Azure SQL Database)
- Able to work comfortably both within a team and independently
- Demonstrated experience of crafting complex documents for technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong time management and organisation skillsExcellent communicator, including written, presentation and confident to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
- Passion for data analytics and problem solving
Knowledge and Experience (desirable)
- Experience working with Relational databases- knowledge of some or all of MS SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS and PostgreSQL/MySQL, including T-SQL.
- Exposure to Json, Postman, Swagger and Web API’s and some knowledge of HTTP .
- Experience with Azure SQL DB would be beneficial, as would experience of non-relational databases (Mongo, NoSQL) and caching technologies (especially Redis).
- Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, incident response and change / problem management experience
