Company Overview

Our client is a leading UK infrastructure operator, managing several high-profile and critical energy sites across the country. With a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and innovation, they are looking to strengthen their operations team in Beckton with a capable and committed Operations Technician.

Shift Pattern

Rotating shift work including:

2 Days, 3 Nights, 4 Off

3 Days, 2 Nights, 5 Off

2 Days, 2 Nights, 12 Off

12-hour shifts (6 AM - 6 PM / 6 PM - 6 AM)

Key Responsibilities

Operate and monitor plant systems as part of a high-performing shift team.

Ensure safe and efficient running of plant operations, aligned with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality) standards.

Monitor and control plant processes via DCS (Distributed Control Systems).

Conduct plant start-up, shutdown, and emergency shutdown procedures.

Perform first-line maintenance, defect identification, and basic repair tasks.

Support safety practices including Permit to Work, Risk Assessments, and housekeeping duties.

Contribute to continuous improvement in operational performance and reliability.

Minimum Requirements

Time-served apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent in a process, engineering, or technical discipline.

Strong practical understanding of plant operations and equipment within a COMAH or similar regulated environment.

Demonstrated skills in:

Fault finding & root cause analysis

First-line maintenance & troubleshooting

Interpreting operational data and plant trends

Familiarity with Safe Systems of Work, including PTW systems and safety documentation.

A proactive, safety-conscious approach with a strong eye for detail and teamwork.

Ideal Candidate Background

Experience in chemical, power generation, refinery, waste-to-energy, or bioenergy sectors.

Comfortable working within a structured, safety-first environment.

Hands-on, with a “get it done” mindset and clear communication skills.
