As a Payroll Specialist, you’ll oversee the day-to-day administration of multiple monthly payrolls, ensuring timely processing within specified deadlines.

Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Location: Swindon- Office based role

Type: Guaranteed temp-perm

Reporting to: HR Operations Manage

Salary: £26,000 to £30,000 depending on qualification and experience

Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Process new hires, terminations, absences, statutory leave, and payments.
  • Reconcile fixed pay instructions, including basic salary changes and pay uplifts.
  • Handle tax code change notifications.
  • Conduct monthly auto-enrolment pensions assessments.
  • Manage all payroll administration, including Real Time Information (RTI) submission reports to HMRC.
  • Prepare nominal link reports for finance to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Provide first-line support for payroll-related queries.
  • Perform end-of-year processing and reconciliations, including RTI submissions, issuing P60s, and P11ds.
  • Develop efficient payroll processes.
  • Foster positive working relationships across departments and keep them informed of relevant updates.
  • Stay current with best practices and industry standards, collaborating with the HR Operations Manager to enhance processes.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a busy payroll function.
  • L3 payroll technician qualification.
  • Familiarity with Sage 50 payroll (desirable).
  • Proficiency in manual calculations when needed.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking abilities.
  • Comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A team player with a flexible, proactive attitude.
  • Demonstrated sense of ownership, responsibility, and accountability.
