Material Controller

Location: Abingdon
Rate: £17 per hour
Duration: 8 - 10 weeks

Hours: Monday to Friday (standard days, 37.5 hours per week)
Are you an experienced Material Controller with a keen eye for detail and a strong background in inventory management? Do you have experience using ERP/MRP systems and enjoy working within a structured environment? If so, this short-term contract role could be the perfect fit for you!
We are looking for a proactive and organised individual to support a crucial inventory stock count and database migration project. You'll play a key role in transferring stock data to a new MRP system, ensuring complete accuracy in labelling, traceability, and batch information.
 
Your Role & Responsibilities:
✔ Stock Inventory Management - Conduct a full inventory check at Harwell and Abingdon locations.
✔ Data Transfer & System Update - Accurately transfer stock details from an old database to a new MRP system.
✔ Part Number Identification - Ensure all items are correctly labelled with updated part numbers in the system.
✔ Traceability & Batch Control - Maintain accurate batch records and remove stock from the old system.
✔ MRP Labelling & Organisation - Re-label all inventory with new MRP labels and update quantities.
✔ Process Improvement - Establish a tracking method to manage inventory movement during the transition.
 
What We're Looking For:
🔹 ERP/MRP System Knowledge - Previous experience using inventory management software.
🔹 Stores & Inventory Expertise - Background in stores, inventory, or purchasing functions.
🔹 Attention to Detail - Able to track stock accurately and prevent data loss.
🔹 Fast Learner - Capable of quickly adapting to new software.
🔹 Microsoft Excel Proficiency - Comfortable with data entry and analysis.
🔹 Problem-Solving Skills - Positive attitude with the ability to resolve issues efficiently.
🔹 Deadline-Focused - Ability to work within strict project timelines.

Desirable:

Understanding of Manufacturing Processes & Components - Would be an advantage.
Database Knowledge - Experience using stock or inventory databases.
