Salary: £16 - £17 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving: Operate Class 1 HGV vehicles, adhering to road safety regulations and company policies.
  • Route Planning: Follow assigned routes for delivery or collection of goods, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Loading and Unloading: Assist with loading/unloading freight, ensuring correct handling and securing of cargo.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily vehicle checks before and after each shift (e.g., oil, water, tyres), and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, tachograph regulations, and company procedures regarding hours of work.
  • Customer Service: Maintain a professional and courteous demeanour with customers and suppliers during deliveries.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety procedures to ensure the safe transport of goods and personal safety during the shift.
  • Documentation: Complete all necessary paperwork, including delivery notes, logbooks, and any other documentation as required.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 1 (C+E) HGV Licence with CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
  • Previous Experience: Minimum of 1 year of driving Class 1 vehicles, with a proven record of safety and reliability.
  • Night Driving Experience: Comfortable working during night-time hours and navigating roads during low-visibility conditions.
  • Clean Driving Record: No more than 9 penalty points on your driving license (minor offences considered).
  • Knowledge of Tachographs: Ability to work with digital tachographs and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with dispatch and customers.
  • Physical Fitness: Able to undertake manual handling tasks as part of loading/unloading.
  • Safety Conscious: A proactive approach to safety, both for yourself and others on the road.
  • Local Knowledge: Knowledge of local road networks and routes is advantageous.
